Ettore Paternò del Toscano was undoubtedly a role model for all horticulturists in the Etna area. He was passionate about gardens since childhood and preferred learning botany than going to school. By regularly visiting the city parks he learned all the expertise that allowed him years later to create his own beautiful garden, while also designing his friends’ gardens all around the city of Catania. He was very intrigued by exotic plants and managed to collect botanical species from all over the world. Today these plants are set in the most beautiful Sicilian gardens as delightful and rare little gems. In particular in the Parco Paternò del Toscano the typical Mediterranean vegetation is combined with rare examples of exotic and tropical species.
